April 3, 2018

Meeting Place – Gilbert High School

Welcome \ Introductions:

Jon kicked off the meeting by welcoming everyone and asking if there were visitors or guests.

Jon talked about Gilbert Tractor club finding new members and encouraging students to also join and mentioning it looked good on a resume.

Business:

Pay your annual dues now.

Presenters are needed for 2018.  Please contact Tim and let him know of ideas you have.  The rest of the year is open.  Pease help get presenters lined up.

Bob talked about Gilbert Days and they’re currently meeting once a month and those will increase as it gets closer to the date.   There will be new things for Gilbert Days this year; however, they’d like to have the tractor club’s pedal tractors.  Bob has the little pullers contract signed.  Bob will take care of the little pullers tractor show.  Others working the different events for the Gilbert Tractor club will need to find their own helpers. Kim will be in charge of the pedal tractors.   Bob will reach out to Roger to see if he’s interested in doing the ice cream.  Someone needs to line up tractors and watch the club trailer.

New Business:

Kim has worked with Windsor Oaks and we’re a go for having a tractor display for them.  Kim has a sign-up sheet for the Windsor Oak event.  If you can commit to being there, make sure you get your name on the list.  There will be lunch provided for those who are displaying a tractor.  Lunch could be from Casey’s or Subway.

Kim also has a sign-up sheet for those who can commit to having a tractor at Pizza Ranch.  Please sign up if you plan to display a tractor.  You’ll be able to go through the line again this year if you display a tractor.

Gene Upstill is checking but believes they’ll host the Corn and bologna dinner this year.

The Ag students talked about their shop projects.

Timothy & Parker talked about their future plans and the Farmall M they’re working on in the shop.  Timothy plans to attend Iowa State and Parker plans to start out at DMACC.  Parker will be an intern for Kern electric.

Julie, plans to pursue electrical engineering. She’s been working on a John Deere B in the shop.  Her and her dad are working on her grandpa’s garden tiller.

Nathan and Sam talked about welding and garden tractors.  Nathan would like to pursue mechanical engineering.  Sam knows he doesn’t want a desk job and was thinking maybe Iowa State.

Alexander has future plans in engineering and this summer has an intern position lined up at John Deere.  He’s still working on the Oliver and hopes to have it completed soon.  It does turn over but it’s not running.  He hasn’t finished working on the seat and hopes to have that completed soon.  This year Alexander is in the State FFA and representing Ag sales where he spoke about a powder coating system.
